ITU Satellite Communications Symposium 2019 - Bariloche, Argentina

It follows a press release published  on the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) website, highlighting the Satellite Communications Symposium 2019 being held in S.C.Bariloche, Argentina, from September 25th to 27th.

ITU SATELLITE COMMUNICATIONS SYMPOSIUM 2019 - S.C.BARILOCHE, ARGENTINA, 25-27 SEPTEMBER 2019

Following the success of previous ITU Satellite Symposia – and at the kind invitation of the Secretariat of  Modernization of Argentina  ̶  the Radiocommunication Bureau is pleased to announce the holding of a three-day Symposium in San Carlos de Bariloche on 25-27 September 2019 where experts from the industry, satellite operators,  regulators and space agencies from the Americas Region will meet to present and discuss latest technologies in satellite communications and space missions, national space plans, regulatory and market aspects of space services.


In view of the imminent World Radiocommunication Conference to be held just one month after this Symposium, presentations and discussions will naturally be linked with the issues to be decided at this Conference but will also address more specifically the needs from the Americas region.

The 2019 Satellite Communications ​​Symposium will cover the following topics, inter alia:   

- Satellite Systems and 5G Ecosystem.

- Non-geostationary large-constellations: deployment and bringing into use, coexistence among them, with the geostationary satellites and other systems, future requirements.

- Mobility: Earth stations in motion (ESIM), licensing issues, future requirements for non-geostationary satellite systems.

- Understanding spectrum needs and regulatory requirements for satellite communications in the Americas continent.

- Science Services: Protection of passive bands, new systems, future requirements.

- Interference to Space Services and Space Monitoring.

- Satellite Innovations and Future Agenda Items for the World Radiocommunications Conference 2023.

Participants attending the meeting will benefit from high quality presentations and discussions among distinguished speakers who will provide the audience with an in-depth understanding of the current situation, evolution and trends in the above-mentioned fields in the region and all over the world. Hence, a complete and fresh perspective in preparation for the World Radiocommunication Conference 2019 will be acquired.

In this context, participation of governments, regulators, private sector and any stakeholder of the space ecosystem is expected.

The Symposium will conclude with a technical visit to a satellite manufacturing and testing facilities located in the area.

The event will be conducted in both the Spanish and English languages.
